In 1985, the bilingual Minka nursery school opened in Farrendorf, upon the initiative of the Edinost cultural society. It established itself not only as a place of early education and the care of toddlers but also as a cultural meeting place. Since 1997 there has also been a community nursery school and a toddler group.
During the Second World War, nursery schools were introduced whose declared goal was not early education but to distance children from parental influence and educate them according to Nazi principles. There were such nursery schools in Penken and Schiefling. These disappeared again after the war ended.
